10-year-old humiliated at school after teacher covered her mouth in class

It’s about defining what crosses the line. When it comes to disciplining students, teachers should guide their students and be their role models. Children spend most of their early life in school, and it is during these crucial years that their intellectual and social skills reach their full potential for growth and development.
Sometimes things can get a little out of hand when it comes to children and teachers as adults should be aware of that. Although discipline is important, students should not feel humiliated in front of others, especially in class. Unfortunately, this was not the case for one of the teachers.
At Dupont Tyler Middle School in Nashville, Tennessee, 10-year-old Reagan Phillips was humiliated in front of her classmates after her teacher taped her to silence in class. As the student is said to have talked too much, the child’s mother, Victoria Phillips, explained that the incident made her angry.
I’m angry, I’m hurt and I’m driven, the mother said of the incident. However, the mother admitted that her daughter actually had a habit of talking a lot. She explained that her daughter talked a lot in class because she was very excited to learn new things.
She also claimed that Reagan would often interrupt the class with her questions without raising a hand. However, in her defense, the mother said she was working to resolve her concerns with the teacher.
Still, Victoria felt that what the teacher was doing was completely out of line. She was shocked by the incident that happened in class. The concerned mother recalled her daughter recounting the incident and described how her daughter cried when she got home.
Victoria asked her daughter what happened and Reagan replied that her teacher taped her mouth and then everyone laughed at her. Reagan went on to say that she pulled the tape off and her lip is bleeding because of it.
One student in the class mentioned that the teacher tried to silence the class and while Reagan was still speaking, the teacher took the tape off the table and put it over Regan’s mouth. Another student in the class came to the teacher’s aid. The student claimed that the teacher did it for fun and said there was no lack of respect for her students.
Although the student said it was just a silly joke, the mother believed it was still unacceptable. Victoria argued that her teacher publicly shamed her daughter. It messes up your life, she explained.
And then as a mother to protect it, it messed up our trust. She felt I knew about it and let it happen, said Victoria, angry at the incident. The mother wanted the teacher to publicly apologize to her little daughter. I want her to make a public statement and publicly apologize to my daughter. She was humiliated, said the mother.
Meanwhile, Metro Nashville public school officials said they expect their teachers and other employees to be professional in their dealings with students. They also urge parents to act immediately if there are any complaints.
They also stated that they would take action if there were incidents against the code of conduct. The youth welfare office examined the complaint. However, it is not known how a teacher was held accountable.
When adults become parents, they develop a primal need to protect their children at all times. Whether it’s defending them physically by influencing their best interests by influencing their decisions, or to monitor what they’re exposed to on a daily basis.
Most of what they do, they do with their best intentions, which is why some parents can become anxious when their babies go to school. It’s a place where they have to entrust the care of their children to someone else. Often strangers just hope that their teachers can have a positive impact on their lives.
