2 men found dead at home in Harris County, Texas: MPs
A 63-year-old man reportedly shot himself when police entered his home to conduct a social check, authorities said. Investigators also found a 64-year-old man dead and decomposing inside.
Harris County senior deputy Thomas Gilliland said in a news conference that the sheriff’s office received a call around 6:30 p.m. Saturday about a welfare check at Block 16800 of Kilwinning Drive. A neighbor told them that he hadn’t seen a resident for several months. This person has also not been in contact with him for some time, Gilliland said.
Deputies noticed a lot of flies and bad smell from one end of the house, he said. They decided to head inside to check on his well-being.
“And as they entered the house, they heard a shot,” he said. “When they entered this house, they cleared the house and at one point they found another male body in a bedroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And in an adjoining bedroom they also found the body of a man who was badly decomposed and had been dying for at least a period of several months.”
They appeared to have lived together in the same house, Gilliland said.
