49ers star Deebo Samuel calls out death threats from fans

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel spends some time on the sidelines.

Amid contract negotiations and reported commercial rumors, San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel is claiming that fans have started sending death threats and hating his way.

Since arriving in San Francisco in 2019, Samuel has become a dynamic weapon for the 49ers. After playing a lower role in 2019 and missing in 2020 due to injury, Samuel has burst onto the scene for an All-Pro season in 2021.

Understandably, the former South Carolina Gamecock player wants to be paid. Rumors and reports have swirled around the situation, which seems to have led to Deebo having to speak out about the hate he’s received on social media.

@OurSf49ers_ recorded the deleted post and shared it to their Twitter account.

“Hi to all the fans you are sending direct messages and death threats and racist content, it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t,” said Samuel. “All of them are just hoo-rihing and ‘Go Deebo’ and…. Now you want to send death threats and all that race-related stuff you have, that doesn’t bother me, man. I’m cool, I’m chill, I’m happy. ”

It’s horrible that Deebo even has to worry about these threats, but it’s commendable that he tackles it and stays above it in his response.

49ers Insider determines key deadline

49ers fans should encourage Deebo to stay and sign rather than harm him with their words, especially considering the potential timeframe San Francisco is working on.

Athletic reporter Tim Kawakami recently shared what he believes is a “deadline” for the 49ers if they decide on a future without Deebo.

“If 49 people are not prepared to eventually pay Deebo at or near the top of the WR market,” Kawakami wrote on April 14. “I believe he will be traded by April 28, round. first pick of the draft, for a package that will include the first pick in this draft that the 49ers will use immediately on WR. “

However, the insider also said he doesn’t “expect” that’s how things turn out. The 49ers have no reason not to pay Samuel considering his elite production and how integrated he is to offense in both passing and rushing games.

Samuel’s career is beginning

Samuel’s stock has never been higher, and that’s more of a reason to keep him than to trade. No other player in the NFL has done what he did last year.

Deebo received six touchdowns and earned eight fold touches, while winning a total of 1770 yards on the ground and in the air. What’s more, his 18.2 yards per reception led the NFL in 2021, proving he’s not a touch merchant at all.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revolves around having explosive and multi-talented players to open the scheme. Deebo is the definition of both of those traits, and he clearly deserves a monster contract when it comes to paychecks.

Now, attention turns to whether that will come from the 49ers or with a new team via trade. Either way, the sign of fans sending death threats and racial hatred is a black mark on the whole story. 49ers star Deebo Samuel calls out death threats from fans
