5 ways to prepare for Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion

Destiny 2’s next big DLC, Lightfall, is finally less than two weeks away. With this in mind, there is little time left for players to prepare for the upcoming expansion. However, with so much content available to play through, one is understandably unsure which activities are most worth their time and effort. So today, let’s discuss the five best ways to get ready for Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion.
Play the seasonal titles

When the upcoming Lightfall DLC arrives, all seasons of the Witch Queen DLC including 16-19 will be Sunset and you will no longer be able to purchase the titles associated with it. These include Risen, Reaper, Scallywag, and Seraph.
Thankfully, getting hold of these latest titles has never been easier. Over the past month, Bungie has made them significantly easier to acquire than they were when they were first released. If you wish to purchase one of these, you can do so through your digital retailer of choice and at least take a look at the content on offer.
Just make sure you do this now before Lightfall arrives on February 28th. After that you will never be able to get them again.
Grab the seasonal weapons

Along with the seasonal titles, the weapons that came with each season will also perish until further notice when Lightfall arrives. Many of these weapons, like the Ikelos SMG shown above, are extremely powerful and will come in very handy in your inventory when Lightfall strikes.
Granted, Bungie has brought back seasonal weapons in some form in future updates, but only years after they were originally released. Fortunately, as Bungie made seasonal titles more readily available, that included guns as well. So if you want to snag a God Roll Calus Mini Tool before Lightfall comes out, you still have the chance to do so before the next DLC comes out.
Make a bounty hoard

You’ve probably heard this before, but hoarding bounties ahead of a big expansion drop is hugely beneficial for those who want a head start on all the new goodies when Lightfall arrives.
If you’re a casual player, this isn’t mandatory, as this is mostly for hardcore players who want to level up as quickly as possible before the Lightfall raid arrives. So if you’re trying to snag some goodies from the Season Pass or pick up a new Artifact mod, saving some bounties is a huge boon as it gives you a massive XP boost. Weekly bounties like Dreaming City, Moon, and Clan are best, but it’s also a good idea to snag a daily bounty once in a while.
Benefit from the increased progression of Exotic Catalysts

About a month ago Bungie made it so that Exotic Catalysts for Seasonal Exotics from Season of Risen and beyond have increased progression until Lightfall arrives. These Exotics include the Grand Overture LMG, Trespasser Sidearm, Delicate Tomb Fusion Rifle, and Manticore SMG.
Although these Exotics aren’t retiring, the extra boost in their developer progression is a huge help, as trying to advance their developers usually involves defeating hordes of enemies; about 500 to be exact. The increase reduces the total number of enemies from 500 to around 250 or 300 depending on the weapon. It’s not a must, but a nice side project if you have nothing else to do.
Clean out your vault

When Lightfall arrives, Destiny 2’s sixth year will begin. If you’ve been playing for a long time, chances are you’ve got an incredibly full vault by now.
Another year of Destiny unlocks even more weapons and armor, so unless Bungie increases the vault space again, it’s time to clean out your vault. It’s best to look at things you haven’t used in a long time. If they don’t match the current performance level, you most likely don’t need them.
It would be best if you only kept weapons that are meta-relevant or that you have an emotional connection with, like the Midnight Coup Hand Cannon, in the top left corner. Aim for around 300 or less remaining vault space; This way you’ll have plenty of room for new weapons and armor arriving throughout the year with content related to the Lightfall DLC.
