70-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run moped in Louisville

According to the Louisville Metro Police, a woman died in a crash on a moped in the Southside neighborhood of Louisville Sunday night. It happened just after 11 p.m. when officers from the LMPD Third Division were called to Block 100 of Cambridge Drive. This area is directly between Iroquois Park and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. When they got there, police found a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Cambridge Road when it collided head-on with the moped, which was traveling west. According to the police, the pickup failed to stop and leave the scene of the accident. As a result of the impact, the moped crashed into the lawn next to the road. The woman who was driving the moped, 70-year-old Deborah Richardson, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The LMPD traffic unit is treating this incident as a hit-and-run investigation.
