Karma’s Not Always a B-Word: And This Ontarian Teen is Living Proof!
An 18-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Juliette Lamour, was the sole winner of Lotto 6-49 Gold Ball jackpot worth $48 million. She is the youngest person in Canadian lottery history to win a jackpot of such a large amount.
According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, there have been other 18-year old lottery winners across Canada recently, but no one had won the same amount as Juliette.
It might be a coincidence but the teenager had raided her savings, back when she was 5 years old and sent the money to the Canadian Red Cross, to help victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Seems like Karma can work in your favor too!
How it all happened
The idea to buy a lottery ticket came from her grandfather who suggested to buy a lottery ticket just for fun since she had now turned 18.
This was Lamour’s very first lottery ticket. In fact, when she went to the store, she didn’t even know what to ask for! This is when she called her dad for assistance and was told to buy a LOTTO 6-49 Quick Pick.
It turned out that as the days went by, the teenager forgot she had even bought a ticket. But when her colleagues told her that the winning ticket was sold in Sault Ste. Marie, she instantly remembered and couldn’t help checking whether luck was on her side.
And indeed it was! On scanning her ticket with a colleague, her phone lit up, with ‘Big Winner’ being displayed on her phone…that’s when she realized her life had changed. Her colleague was also stunned in disbelief. He was yelling at this amazing stroke of luck. “In fact everyone was yelling that I won $48 million!”
Still, Juliette remained incredulous: “I still can’t believe I hit the Gold Ball jackpot on my very first lottery ticket!” This could actually also happen to you! If you’re based in Canada and would like to try your luck like this unbeknownst Ontarian, why not sign up to an online casino? You can take your pick from several operators, all offering no deposit bonus codes. And who knows, just like this teen, you too can be on your way to hitting the jackpot!
How Did The Win Change Her Life And What Will She Do With The Money?
Although she’s a multimillionaire, Lamour said her plans for the near future haven’t changed. In fact, she still plans on finishing her studies as a medical student: “And tonight, I’m still a university student so I’m planning on finishing my biology report.” However, she is now free to use the money to complete her studies debt-free.
Following her studies, she intends to practice medicine in Northern Ontario, after which she’d be ready to explore the world with her family.
Given that she and her sister Sophie had managed to save an impressive C$61.38 for the Haiti earthquake victims, it is very likely that Lamour will know exactly how to handle her money wisely.
The conscientious teenager added that she will carefully invest the money under the guidance of her financial adviser father, Kevin, and she’ll also be keeping friends and family in mind.
