A fatal crash near Troy leaves one person dead and another injured

An early morning car crash in Pike County has left a Brantley woman dead. The accident occurred around 2:22 a.m. on Alabama 87, about two miles south of Troy. Mary Burgans, 41, was fatally injured when her 2008 Honda Accord left the road and struck a fence and then a concrete mailbox. Burgans was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and died at the scene. A passenger in the Accord – 46-year-old Robert Duncan of Brantley – was injured and taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
