A fire breaks out in the Croydon unit at a complex on Young Street, trapping local residents

A massive fire has broken out in a residential complex, killing one person and evacuating several residents after being trapped inside the building.
The fire broke out at 5.45am on Monday following an explosion on the ground floor of the Young Street complex in Croydon, in western Sydney.
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Several residents were trapped on the third floor of the complex as smoke billowed throughout the building.
A spokesman for NSW Fire and Rescue told Daily Mail Australia that firefighters managed to evacuate residents once they arrived on site.
“Firefighters were faced with a fierce blaze from the ground floor unit, with smoke pouring into the upper floors,” they said.
The evacuated residents are waiting to be examined by paramedics.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, the authorities are launching investigations.
