“I’m thrilled to announce that I’m an ambassador for Beyond Blue’s first one-of-a-kind fundraising event, Big Blue Table,” Julie wrote on Instagram.

“Big Blue Table brings together two of my favorite pastimes – cooking for friends and family and sharing meals and conversations around the table!”

“In addition to the mental health benefits of bringing a group together over a meal, all funds raised during Big Blue Table will go towards Beyond Blue’s 24/7 support service.”

She was soon dubbed a “national treasure” by fans after winning the show for the first time in 2009.

In June, Julie told Woman’s Day that she consulted her psychologist before agreeing to join MasterChef: Fans V Faves this year.

‘[My mental health] was a massive discussion when asked [MasterChef]’ the cookbook author explained.

“I didn’t just say yes. I’ve spoken to my family, I’ve spoken to my psychologist, and it was a very considered decision because at the end of the day I didn’t want to be in a dark place again. she continued.

The mother-of-three, who spent five weeks in a psychiatric facility in 2020, devised a coping strategy for when things get too mentally taxing.

“They worked around the schedule so I could continue to do my psych appointments and get out early in the morning to do my exercises. They keep in touch with me to make sure I’m okay,” she said.
