The Thunderbolts might feel a little less spooky.
The next big team-up movie in the MCU, Thunderbolts, is currently slated to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. Without much news on the film’s progress, that leaves room for the leakers and scoop accounts on Twitter to post updates. This time around, @CanWeGetToast reported that a main character from the upcoming Thunderbolts movie will be removed from the lineup.
Some may remember last year’s poster unveiling of D23, featuring CIA Chairwoman Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, Ghost, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, US Agent and Taskmaster. The one reportedly getting the nix here is Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, who made her MCU debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
For now, this is essentially just a rumor with no major momentum outside of that one Twitter account mentioning it. If this rumor is indeed true, it seems unlikely that a scheduling conflict is an issue with what we currently know. John-Kamen plays a character named Maya in the upcoming movie Unwelcome. However, the film is in post-production, which Thunderbolts probably wouldn’t mind.
If this rumor is true, it will be interesting to know the reason for this big change. Now if only every director could be like James Gunn and quash all rumors as soon as they surfaced like he did here recently with Superman casting speculation. That would certainly help MCU fans figure out what’s really coming from legitimate sources versus the “sources” some leakers use.
