A man has been accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend just before she gave birth, but he claims he doesn’t know her and isn’t the baby’s father

Makayla W., 21, from Mississippi, was found dead on a deserted road about five miles from where her car was previously spotted after being missing for a few days.

The young woman was nine months pregnant and only a few days away from giving birth.

A man believed to be her boyfriend, 33-year-old Terrence S., has been arrested in connection with Makayla’s disappearance.

The county sheriff says Terrence faces murder and murder charges for allegedly killing Makayla Winston and her unborn baby. The man presented himself along with his lawyer.

Makayla’s body was taken to the State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death and authorities are still awaiting the results.

When asked about the case, the suspect said he did not know the victim. He later added that he was not her boyfriend.

However, several of the victim’s relatives confirmed that they thought Terrence was their boyfriend. “They have been spotted together a lot over the past few months; Makayla had no others around.” they added.

After some time, Terrence admitted that he knew Makayla but denied that he was his friend. He also denied being the baby’s father. “I don’t know her (Makayla). I’ve seen her everywhere but I don’t know her personally and she wasn’t my friend. I really don’t know her and that wasn’t my baby.” he said.

Terrence’s attorney said his client should be released if no charges are filed.

The victim’s cell phone was wiped, so we’re also conducting an investigation into the cell phone to find out what was wiped, the sheriff said.

The ongoing investigation should show what really happened. Tests were also conducted to confirm whether Terrence is the father of the unborn baby.
