America is at a crossroads. I’m political too.
The Republican Party, which I joined decades ago, is unrecognizable today. She has preferred conspiracy theories to truth, anger to hope, and division to problem-solving. As I spend my final months in Congress, I find myself carrying the torch for the values and principles of a party that has been overtaken by partisan politicians seeking the limelight and clinging to their sense of power rather than upholding their oaths of office. I have hope for what the Republican Party was and can be, but with each passing day I feel more politically homeless. And I’m not alone.
