A Qantas passenger was shocked to see a disgruntled passenger send “racist” texts about her one-year-old son

A Qantas passenger was shocked after seeing a man writing “racist” texts about her and her son after claiming the toddler kicked the back of a chair.
The woman and her one-year-old had been aboard Qantas flight QF158 from Auckland to Melbourne on Sunday night when she saw the disgruntled passenger describe her as a “fat islander” and her son as a “black kid who kicks me”.
Taking to Facebook to share her story, she said the ordeal left her in tears and wondering if she could ever fly without her husband again.
The mother said tensions between her and the man sitting in front of her son began when he turned and shook his head at the toddler.
She asked the passenger if anything was wrong, and he claimed he replied, “I just hope he doesn’t kick my seat all the time.”

A Qantas passenger was shocked after seeing a man writing “racist” texts about her son after claiming the toddler had kicked the back of his chair (text pictured).
She said she was confused because, from her son’s position, his legs could barely dangle from his own chair, let alone kick the seat in front of it.
As the plane was about to take off, the man asked if the child would stop kicking.
She replied that her son’s legs were too short, adding that if he was that concerned about sitting in front of a child, he should have booked business class.
While they were airborne, the mother spotted the man venting his anger over a text message to a friend calling her a “fat islander” and her son a “black kid”.
“I feel like the whole interaction had nothing to do with my son ‘kicking’ his chair, just something to do with how we looked with his racist comments, or just because I had a kid that sat right behind him,” she wrote.
The woman claims that when she confronted the man about the nasty messages, he was “shocked” and immediately started deleting the message.
The mother said by that point, she and her son were both “tired, frustrated and angry.”

The woman claimed her son could not have kicked the man’s seat as his own legs barely reached the end of his own (her one-year-old son is pictured on the plane).
She eventually moved to the back of the plane after a flight attendant became concerned about the incident.
In her Facebook post, the woman thanked a man and his teenage son who agreed to take their original seats behind the angry man.
“Thanks to the flight attendants who went out of their way to make sure we were ok throughout the flight even though my son refused to calm down,” she wrote.
“I’m not one to share or write status, but this is what I’ve been asked to do in the hope that if you see something like this, hopefully you’re not a spectator like the many people on this flight who don’t bother have done to help or do anything.’
The woman said she and her son are doing well despite the incident. Without her husband she will “definitely” not travel anymore.

She moved up in the back of the plane to calm her son and told a flight attendant about the incident, which took the couple to different seats in the back of the plane (pictured).
Facebook users quickly sympathized with the woman.
“You are so brave even in tears you are still the bigger person to speak out against such bullying and racism,” one wrote.
“Travelling with a toddler is tough and this punk made it the worst for you!” said another.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through that sister my god that man’s audacity,” commented a third.
