A quarter of Africans are facing a food crisis partly because of the Ukraine war, according to the Red Cross

NAIROBI, Kenya — A quarter of Africa’s population is facing a food crisis brought on by severe drought, raging wars and a surge in food prices worldwide caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned on Tuesday .

Around 346 million people, from Mauritania in the west to the Horn of Africa in the east, are food insecure, Dominic Stilhartthe agency’s global operations director, told reporters in Nairobi.
