A sequel to a ’90s action classic nobody asked for has exploded on Netflix

It seems like the holiday season has left the world yearning for an action movie set in the jungle without movie stars, as Hard Target has made Netflix’s top 10 in countries as diverse as the Bahamas, Kenya and Croatia.

Hard Target 2 tells the story of professional MMA fighter Wes Baylor, who is exiled to Thailand after an accidental murder. After a suspicious guy offers him $1 million for a fight in Myanmar, he finds himself the prey of a deadly hunt with rich people chasing him. Can he survive alone in the jungles of Myanmar?

Although unrelated to Hard Target, a 1993 film directed by Jean-Claude Van Damme, the film is considered a sequel in name only and went straight to video. As a result, there is no critic rating for Rotten Tomatoes and the viewer rating is only 19%.

Hard Target was directed by Roel Reiné (Halo) and starred Scott Adkins (Avengement), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), Ann Truong (Cowboy Bebop) and Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba). Fat)
