Abandoned Earlestown building puts children in ‘immense danger’
An abandoned building in Newton-le-Willows has raised safety concerns after children were seen entering the decaying site.
Earlier this month, youngsters were spotted playing at the old Conservative Club building on Earle Street in Earlestown, causing concern among locals.
Newton-le-Willows West councilor Terry Maguire raised the issue after being approached by concerned residents.

It is believed that the issue has now been resolved.
Cllr Maguire said: “It has been brought to my attention that the old Conservative club building on Earle Street is very dangerous.
“The problem of concern seems to be youth congregating at the back of the building at night. This puts them in immense danger as the building is in a very dangerous condition.
“I have now reported this to the council and the police.
“Many thanks to John from Council Building Inspector for his help with this matter. He sent a team to secure the rear gates.”
