The union is expected to resume talks with MGM Resorts International, which owns Borgata, on Thursday morning.

It negotiated with Caesars Entertainment, which owns three casinos – Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana – for hours on Wednesday without reaching a new agreement, and will also resume negotiations with that company on Thursday.

The union said it was seeking “significant” wage increases in new contracts to help workers keep pace with rapidly rising prices of gasoline, food, rent and other costs.

Individual employees also say they have helped keep casinos open and running for most of the coronavirus pandemic, now in its third year, and deserve compensation for it.

Two casinos, Bally’s and Ocean, have reached “me too” agreements with the union in which they commit to finalizing contractual terms with larger properties in the city and there will be no difficulty.

Likewise, union president Bob McDevitt said that the two smaller casinos, Resorts and Golden Nugget, are not in danger of shutting down for the time being, as the union has not yet negotiated with them.
