Actor Cassi Davis lives despite death scam shared online

Actor Cassi Davis died in February 2023.

On February 19, 2023, a rumor spread across Facebook, YouTube and at least one article claiming that “House of Payne” star Cassi Davis had died after a battle with lung cancer. However, she was still alive. This was nothing more than a death scam.

Also, we found no information that she had ever been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Aside from her role as Ella Payne in House of Payne, Davis is also known for her role as Aunt Bam in the Madea films.

In an Instagram post from fellow entertainer Tyler Perry, who directed both “House of Payne” and the “Madea” films, he said he called Davis and confirmed that she was alive and full of jokes.

Perry wrote in the caption of the post, “I called her and asked her if she was dead and she fucking said no!”

After getting several calls from people offering their condolences and I didn’t know what they were talking about, I was sent this article which is doing the rounds.

I don’t know how she could have died and nobody told me or her. So I called her and asked her if she was dead and she said hell no!

Can whoever is responsible for this please stop you better be careful talking death about a child of God.

This woman is loved by millions and you hurt many people.

Cassi is fine living her best life with no worries, no worries, no social media and no drama. She is waiting to start filming the next season of House of Payne.

In the Instagram video, Perry spoke about a screenshot of a death fraud article that read: “American actress Cassie [sic] Davis died of lung cancer at the age of 58.”

Perry said Davis told him this was at least the third or fourth time a death fraud had used her name. She also joked that she thought she had “died more times than a cat.”

Okay so I got these calls so I had to post what I didn’t want to do but I should because people call me and cry. I get messages that say, “My condolences, Tyler.” I’m just like, “What’s up?”

They said, “We heard that Cassi died.” I’m like, “Cassi who?”

“Cassi Davis. Miss Ella. ‘House of Payne.’ Aunt Bam.”

I was like uhhh I just got off the phone with her and she wasn’t dead but let me call her back.

Anyway, I call her and I say, “Cassi, you know this death scam?”

She said, “Yes, Tyler. This is the third or fourth time this has happened and people just need to stop it.”

I said, “Yes, you have to be careful when you talk about a child of God’s death.” So we started talking and in pure Cassier fashion she started cracking some crazy jokes.

I said, “Cassi, are you sure you’re not dead?” She said: “Well I feel like I’m in heaven because these chicken wings I’m eating are so good. (laughs) So we talked about it for a minute.”

She saw the article. Someone sent it to her. And in the article I’m crying and Al Sharpton is at the funeral. And she said, “When I saw Al Sharpton was at my funeral, I tried to call him just to say thank you.”

She also said that she has died more times than a cat. (laughs) She went on to say that if she really dies, no one will believe it. She will be like the boy who cried wolf and the wolf ate her obituary. I mean Cassi is hilarious.

I assured her. I said “Cassi don’t worry if you really die” I know that’s crazy… that’s our sense of humor “I said if you really die I’ll make the official announcement.” She said, “Thank you, but I’m sure I’ll outlive you.”

Then she asked if she could have the funeral by my pool. Let me tell you about Cassi and my pool. Cassi is going to swim in my pool and security will let her in, she just swims, so I come home from a trip and I go to the backyard and she’s just in the pool.

She says, “Damn, what are you doing here?”

I say, “This is my house! I live here!”

The rest of the video is available on Instagram.

We have previously reported on other celebrity death frauds such as Bruce Willis, Simon Cowell, Sylvester Stallone, and Jaden Smith, all aimed at tricking readers into mistakenly installing malware on their devices. This could also have been the case with the death hoax for Davis. Actor Cassi Davis lives despite death scam shared online
