UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is set to defend her title against Alex Pereira, a man known as ‘touching death’.
Adesanya announced the UFC for its long-awaited comeback at Madison Square Garden on November 12 in New York, Adesanya announced Friday on ESPN MMA’s “SportsCenter.” He will defend his belt against an old foe, whom he has fought twice but in a different sport.
With just three outings under the banner, Pereira secured a title following a fierce knockout victory over former fourth-place middleweight contender Sean Strickland. While he went into the game against Strickland unranked, Pereira broke into the top five after the win.
The former two-division Glory champion entered the ring opposite Adesanya twice in kickboxing. He won both matches, with the first coming by decision in 2016 and the second by knockout a year later. As the only one who made Adesanya suffer the cold on the canvas, his appearance in the promotion had fans cheering for the highly-anticipated match.
UFC has confirmed the booking, tweets: “As stated above @Sports Centrewe have a main event set up for MSG @Stylebender vs Alex Pereira confirmed for # UFC281!“

“Stylebender” is successfully defending his title against Jared Cannonier on UFC 276’s International Fight Week card. After a comfortable win on the judges’ scoreboard, Adesanya called out Pereira using a reference from the animated movie for children by Disney “Frozen”.
Adesanya shared her reaction to the news online, tweets: “#UFC281” “Vengeance is mine, my lord.” Brooooo I said the same thing!! This ends here. Kill or be killed.”
He remains confident he will avenge his losses and is excited to fight an opponent who will attack him instead of being cautious in their approach and keeping the defense like a chain of challengers. recently that he had to deal with.
Pereira replied to Adesanya’s Comment
During an appearance on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, Pereira responded to Adesanya’s caption.
“Look, number one, he spent his entire childhood watching cartoons,” he said (ht Sportskeeda). “I spent my childhood working at a tire shop, trying to make money and provide for my family a better life. I didn’t watch those cartoons.”
Pereira stoned Adesanya for his trash talk about Cannonier leading up to the event.
“He’s fooling people,” he added. “He created the same expectations as he said he would fight the last battle [against] Cannonier looks easy and then, make a show, talk a lot and go there with a snob. “
In another interview with Combate, Pereira explained that Adesanya doesn’t believe he’ll get to the position he’s in, and at least, not that quickly.
“Adesanya is very surprised that I am here today. There was a video from about two years ago where he said I would be in a bar telling my friends things like ‘Did you see that guy on TV? UFC Champion. I beat him twice before’.
“He never believed that I was here today and not so quickly. Now look at this. The world keeps turning and I’m fighting him in my next fight.”
