Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian took to Twitter with an eight-word verdict on his side’s 0-1 defeat to Inter Milan on Tuesday night. He said the team was “not satisfied”, but happy to have passed Inter.
After goals from Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah in the last leg, Liverpool were tasked with avoiding anything worse than a one-goal defeat – and that’s exactly what they got. Lautaro Martinez scores for Inter.
It was the only goal of the night, from the cut on the left and with his first touch the Copa America champ unleashed a superb header that flew past Alisson into the top corner. Liverpool have the best opportunities.

Mo Salah hit both posts, Joel Matip headed over the bar while Luis Diaz missed an unfortunate opportunity from six yards – when Arturo Vidal made the final tackle to deny the Colombian. The result, then, ended with a score of 1-0.
But Liverpool progressed 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League. First loss at Anfield in 29 games, since 7 March last year – and Adrian has told fans the Liverpool players are “not satisfied”.

On another day, Matip’s superb header flew past Samir Handanovic into the high corner. Salah should have scored twice, instead of hitting the post on both occasions. Diaz scored 9 times out of 10 chances.
In fact, Inter will not be able to complain if Handanovic conceded three-quarters of goals at Anfield on Tuesday night. But the job was done in the first leg and it helped Liverpool progress to the quarter-finals.
