AFL star Jeremy Finlayson’s wife Kellie shares amazing health update as she battles terminal cancer

AFL star Jeremy Finlayson’s wife shared a touching update on social media as she battles terminal cancer.

Kellie Finlayson – who previously beat a bout of colon cancer only for it to spread to her lungs – released some very uplifting news this week.

It happened just after she met pop megastar Ed Sheeran in person before his concert in Adelaide.

“In keeping with this week’s ‘Girl of Fortune Syndrome’ theme, my tumor markers are below suspect levels, the chemo is working better than expected and the cancer isn’t thriving!!!” the mother-of-one wrote on Instagram.

“Somebody buy me a lottery ticket, honestly.”

Finlayson, 27, has been a busy woman lately.

She married her towering Port Adelaide man Ruckmann last Sunday in front of family and friends in Tennyson Beach after their wedding was postponed last October due to her cancer diagnosis.

“I wanted to get married with my hair on and started losing hair,” Kellie told the Adelaide Advertiser.

She wanted her wedding to be a quiet, private affair and “a surprise for everyone except our bridal shower and the family and friends who were in attendance.”

The event took just three weeks to plan, with the help of industrious bridal party and Kellie’s modeling agency, The Models.

The loving couple plan to throw a bigger celebration in October when the AFL season ends, with Kellie also vowing to beat her diagnosis and be there for her husband and daughter Sophia.

Finalyson’s cancer journey has inspired many and she had some wise advice for anyone experiencing symptoms.

Most importantly, Kellie (pictured with Sophia) hopes her experiences will encourage others to see a doctor if they are in pain, given that colon cancer is more common in young people

“Trust your gut, talk to your doctor, stick with them,” she said. “If they tell you it’s nothing, find a new doctor, they’re not the right one.

And when it comes to colon cancer, Kellie is living proof that it’s not “just a disease of old age.”

“A lot of people also don’t know what the medical costs are,” she said.

“Luckily I had health insurance and went to a private hospital.

“We spent about $150,000 and only $50,000 was covered by Medicare. But you have no choice but to pay it when your life is at stake.”
