Paulo Dybala wants to join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer when his contract with Juventus ends in June, although Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly spoken to his agent.

This is acc Calciomercato, who reports that the Argentine playmaker is keen to move to Spain. Diego Simeone is also keen for the Colchoneros to secure his services in the summer after the Bianconeri decided against extending the 28-year-old’s deal.

Dybala had expected the Old Lady to come up with new terms before his existing contract expired. He has been in Turin since 2015 €40 million (£34m) joins from Palermo and is also Serie A vice-captain. But Duan Vlahovic’s form has paved the way for his departure.

A move to Spain is a firm option for Dybala as his services are set to launch with no transfer fee. Rodrigo de Paul is even urging Atletico Madrid to sign his compatriot, who is unlikely to join Barcelona as Xavi Hernandez is not a big admirer and has turned down any deal.

Inter Milan are also struggling to present the San Siro as a landing ground for the 32-cap star. The Nerazzurri are considering the terms of a move but his demands for a net €10m-a-year (£163,000-a-week) contract including bonuses are too lucrative for the Serie A side to afford.

The race for Dybala’s free transfer from Juventus also includes north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, per Giacomo Iacobellis. The TuttoMercatoWEB reporter notes that both sides, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico and Barcelona have spoken to the Maestro’s agent.

Additionally, Corriere dello Sport had named Spurs and Barcelona as the frontrunners for his signature earlier this month. But with Xavi’s rejection and Simeone and Dybala’s desires, the Premier League club are now likely to be behind Atletico Madrid in any summer transfer battle.
