As many expected before a ball was kicked against the Etihad, it was a vibrant encounter that offered no clear answer as to where the Premier League title is going.
While the Reds would have been critical of their first-half performance, they changed it after the break and Shearer highlighted that.
“Liverpool right in the second half, they were totally different,” said Shearer. “Henderson picked up the second balls, he did it really, really well.
“Salah didn’t have his best game. But what a pass (for Mane’s goal). The weight of the pass to Mane and it’s a great finish.

From fighting for the title to trying to win the FA Cup now, the winner of this weekend’s showdown will feel like he has multiple trophies to add to his cabinet this season – either Crystal Palace or Chelsea await him there Final.
Liverpool already have the League Cup to their name this season and they will want to use that to push them past that dotted line.
But just like their penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea, it probably won’t be easy, even if Jurgen Klopp and his players are indeed the ones celebrating at the end of the season.
