Alec Baldwin paid an emotional tribute to his beloved late mother Carol on Thursday – on her 93rd birthday.
The celebrated actor. 64, announced his mother’s death in a May 26 Instagram post and expressed pride in her achievements in raising awareness and funding breast cancer research.
He said: “Today is my mother’s birthday, if she had lived my mother would have died in May, she would have been 93.

“My mother has an interesting third act in her life, growing up in Syracuse, meeting my father and having six children.
“After my father died of cancer in 1983, he was young and had cancer, he was only 53, my mother and her friend bought these different groups together establish a breast cancer research center.
“I’m very proud of you mom, wherever you are, the work you’ve done lives on thanks to my sister Beth, supporters and her board
“A big dream of my mother was to fight for the cure, happy birthday mom and hopefully it won’t be long before we find a cure.

Carolyn is survived by her six children, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Announcing her death in May, Alec wrote, “Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, William and Stephen Baldwin and their two daughters Elizabeth and Jane, died today in Syracuse, New York,” he said.
He noted how “she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1991” and “after surviving, she joined a group of breast cancer support groups on Long Island to start an initiative with SUNY Stony Brook with her, Carol M. Baldwin.” Breast Cancer Research Fund.
Alec said that “joint efforts have raised millions of dollars for the cause.”
He said his mother taught him “about second acts… and third acts too” and that “she spent the last 25 years of her life fighting and championing the cause to which she dedicated her life.”
Alec later greeted his late mother after her funeral in a clip he posted to Instagram.

“I wanted to thank everyone who wished me well for my mother who passed away on May 26th and her funeral was yesterday on the 11th in Syracuse and both things went as well as I could have expected,” said the Oscar-nominated actor, 64, as he sat on a couch near a window in the clip.
Baldwin said his mother’s final days and the weeks that followed were “handled with a lot of love and very kindness” by family and friends.
“Everyone close to my mother and family who lived in the area who could make it were in the room with her when she died,” he said. “And she was really, truly — I’ve heard people say, ‘Surrounded by loved ones’ when they died — and in my mother’s case, it was certainly true.”
Carol “was surrounded by her family and everyone in the area — just a handful of us, including me — was on our way to Syracuse when she went really fast after a certain point,” the 30-year-old rock graduate said.

Baldwin commended his late mother’s breast cancer awareness, support and research efforts over the past 25 years, saying she “had a tremendous impact … in the central New York area, not just in Syracuse but beyond.”
“When she had her fundraiser in Syracuse every year, people would come from quite a distance, from all over central New York from Buffalo to Albany down to Rochester.”
He continued, “They had a very good reach and had a huge impact on the survivor community, counseling women preparing for surgery or who were confronting the disease, regardless of the outcome of my mother and her organization – originally on Long Island and then with another chapter in central New York – they were there to help many, many women face the difficult reality of breast cancer.’
The Glengarry Glen Ross star is very proud of his mother, sister Beth and the rest of his family who have “worked very hard to help women face and adjust to the consequences of breast cancer”.
Summing up his poignant memory of his mother, Baldwin said: “I am proud of my mother and I am very sorry that she is no longer in the world to help people, but she certainly is, I think It’s easy to say that someday she’s certainly in a better place than any of us while we’re still here.
“She is certainly in a better place today than any of us in the world. Thanks again to everyone and your well wishes, thank you.”
