Alfonso Ribeiro has torn up the TV shows starring two ‘DWTS’ contestants
In an interview in September 2022 with the New York Post, Ribeiro made some surprisingly candid comments about The Bachelor franchise as well as MTV’s Jersey Shore. In the interview, Ribeiro made it clear that he didn’t watch “The Bachelor” because he thought it was fake.
“I don’t watch people pretend to be in love, and they never are,” he said.
He also falsely stated that the only “bachelor” couple to ever “stay married” was the “first” and that there had been “no success since”. That would be “DWTS” alum Trista Sutter, who is still married to her last pick, Ryan. But so have other Bachelor Nation couples, including Sean and Catherine Lowe, Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried, and Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo. all found lasting love and marriage on the show.
Ribeiro’s comment was also a big diss for “DWTS Season 31” contestant Gabby Windey, who just finished her season of the ABC dating show with engagement to Eric Schwer.
In addition to his commentary on The Bachelor franchise, Ribeiro also threw shade on Jersey Shore, the long-running reality show that stars current DWTS contestant Vinny Guadagnino. When asked about the MTV reality show, he remarked that the Jersey Shore boys were nothing special.
“Why watch when you can go?” he told the Post. “I’m from New York … how many of these guys did I know, I know 35 of them.”
Tom Bergeron previously got into trouble for his comments on “DWTS.”
Ribeiro isn’t the first “DWTS” host to speak negatively about something related to a contestant. During his long hosting career, Bergeron made public appearances expressed his dismay about “divisive” political figures” who were cast for the show, like Sean Spicer. Former White House press secretary was a candidate on “DWTS” in Season 28, which ended up being Bergeron’s final season as a host.
During an interview in 2021 at Bob Saget Podcast “There for you”.Bergeron admitted that his decision to go public with his views on the casting selection caused friction between him and the producers and ultimately led to his dismissal from the show.
“Whether it was someone I voted for or not, I didn’t think a political persona would be an appropriate cast for the show, but also for the time we would be performing, which was really close to the presidential campaign We agreed on that,” he said. “I’ve been public about it. I don’t think it was a good fit for the producer or the broadcaster.”
In September 2022, Bergeron told Cheryl Burke Burke in the Game podcast.“I have gone public with my concerns about this [casting divisive political figures. It just felt that our show at its best is an escape from all of that.”
