In Kirby and the forgotten land, our little pink puffball friend is treated to all sorts of tricks. Those familiar with Kirby will know that he is a master at shapeshifting to mimic things. In particular, this game allows him to use two types of transformation, Mouthful modes and copy skills. The difference between these two skill types is that Mouthful mode allows Kirby to turn into inanimate objects, while Copy skills take the form of living creatures.

Players can use twelve different ones Basic Copy Skills. These abilities allow players to fight enemies using different tactics based on the player’s preferences and playstyle. The only exception to this is the Sleep Copy skill, which is merely a support skill that can be used to regain HP. All of these copy abilities can be upgraded into superior forms once players find them design and go to gun shop in Waddle Dee Town.

How do copy skills work?

Copy abilities are all quite different in how they work, but activating and changing them is fairly easy. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Find an enemy whose skills can be mimicked. Keep in mind that not all enemies can be duplicated. Most enemies compatible with this feature wield various items such as hammers or swords.
  • Move Kirby to face and approach an enemy. Press the B button to inhale them. All subsequent uses of the B button will use the enemy’s copied ability.
  • To remove a copy ability, simply press and hold Y button and Kirby will revert to his base form. Players have a few seconds to breathe in this ability, which appears as an orb, before it disappears.
  • After unlocking the gun shop in Waddle Dee Town, the player has the ability to customize copy abilities to fit their playstyle or the needs of a particular stage. The weapon shop can be accessed after completing the last stage in natural levels called The brawl at the mall.
  • Gamers may be wondering how forms of mouthful mode and copy abilities work together, and rest assured that Nintendo has taken this into account. Kirby can enter a Mouthful Mode form while already using a copy ability. If players are already using a Mouthful mode and wish to discontinue or change their copy ability, they must first exit Mouthful mode.
