Nick Howell, a 12-year-old boy, has an important message for other TikTok users after suffering burns on 35 percent of his body.

In October 2020, Nick was at his grandmother’s house in Miami with his family when he and his cousins ​​began discussing the so-called Fire Challenge trend.

“You shouldn’t try everything you see on social media.” said the young human. “It’s not going to go well. I want to tell people not to be followers, but leaders.”

Speaking about the incident, Nick recalled, “I poured some rubbing alcohol on her [concrete] ground, lit it and extinguished it. But I guess the bottle caught fire and exploded. I started to burn.”

The publication reports that Nick started screaming and ran to the front of the house before his father and uncle saw him and splashed him with water.

His mother Estela said: “It was traumatizing, heartbreaking and devastating.”

The boy spent six months in hospital and had to relearn how to get dressed, stand and walk.
