Going beyond the tickrate limit
In Counter-Strike, movement, shooting, and throwing were all based on something called the tick rate. Basically, actions were measured at very short time intervals called ticks, and any actions that took place in the milliseconds before the very next tick didn’t exist in the play area. This led to the phantom bullet phenomenon, where a fired bullet could miss because it was within that time frame. However, Counter-Strike 2 promises to introduce sub-tick updates, effectively eliminating this issue entirely. This is a big backend change that will have a significant impact on gameplay.
Smoke grenades become real
Smoking has always been an important part of winning matches in Counter-Strike, and it’s no different in its sequel. However, smoke grenades in Counter-Strike 2 have become more dynamic, allowing for equalization across all playfields. Smokes in the sequel will actually exist in the game world and not just be a graphic. That means everyone sees the smoke the same way. In addition, smoke curves realistically around objects and is even affected by external sources such as: B. by shots fired through him. Grenades will even cause smoke to erupt in real time.
Maps evolve
Counter-Strike is a game that has a lot of maps, both community and official maps, that can be played. Value is very aware of this fact and has decided to approach cards in Counter-Strike 2 in three ways:
- touchstone cards – These are classic Counter-Strike maps with strong foundations that require minimal changes for the sequel.
- Updated Maps – These cards will leverage the strengths of the new Source 2 engine to significantly improve their graphical fidelity.
- Revamped maps – These are CS’s oldest maps, completely remastered using everything the Source 2 engine has to offer to bring them up to date. Additionally, the tools used on these maps will be fully available to community mapmakers.
