Gogoat is a pure Grass type with an impressive HP stat in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It can hit surprisingly hard with its physical attacks, but can be overtaken by many of the Pokémon in the game. It has reliable ways of keeping itself alive and even learns earthquakes when it levels up. As a pure grass type, it has many weaknesses but a surprising immunity that perhaps not all players are aware of. What is Gogoat weak against in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Gogoat is a pure grass Enter Pokemon and has many high-power moves like Earthquake, Leaf Blade, and Dual Edge. The best way to take it down quickly is to hit it with physical moves since it has a much lower defense than Special Defense. Flying, Bugs, Ice, Poison, and Fire are good ways to deal with Gogoat. His hidden ability grassfur activates only in Grassy Terrain, giving it 50% more Defense. When activated, it’s best to use special moves instead. His weaknesses are:

Gogoat is a great Pokémon when used against other types of plants, as it is immune to their plants’ STAB. Even with its weak Defense stat, it can use moves like Bulk Up to boost both its Attack and Defense, and heal any damage it takes with Milk Drink. While Gogoat might not be one of the strongest types of grass, it can do a lot of damage on both the physical and special sides. It takes less damage from:

• electric – 1/2
• water – 1/2
• grass – 1/2 (without Sap Sipper)

What are the best counters against Gogoat in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Gogoat’s movepool through leveling up isn’t too diverse, so many Pokemon can safely be switched in to counter him. It mainly knows grass moves and can learn Aerial Ace, Earthquake and Double Edge for cover. When battling it in the wild are the best Pokemon to counter it Staraptor, kilowattrel, and many of the other Flying Pokémon in the game. Bronzong with Levitation as an ability is also a very strong counter against Gogoat as it resists all of his moves.
