The Ice-type is one of the weakest Pokémon types in the series defensively, but has good offensive presence. Terastization helps Ice-types tremendously, as they can keep their STAB while becoming a more defensive-type. Increasing their defense against snow gives them some survivability, but sometimes it’s too little, too late. Using Ice-types can be tricky since their type weaknesses are common in Pokémon’s movepools, but this guide should help. These are all of the weaknesses and strengths of Ice-type Pokémon, as well as the Pokémon that counter them best.

What is Ice weak to in Pokémon?

Ice has four weaknesses that make it difficult to work with. This is higher than the number of weaknesses of bug-type Pokemon, but still performs much better offensively than bugs. For super effective damage, players should use:

  • Fire – 2x
  • Battle – 2x
  • rock – 2x
  • stole – 2x

What are Ice-type Pokémon immune to in Pokémon?

Ice-type Pokémon have no immunity and take damage from all moves. In older generations they took damage from hail, but Generation IX replaced hail’s effects with snow.

What is ice strong against in Pokémon?

Offensively, Ice-type moves are very powerful as they can deal super effective damage to many Pokemon. Ice-type moves deal super effective damage:

  • Flying – 2x
  • grass – 2x
  • floor – 2x
  • dragon – 2x

Defensively, Ice-type Pokémon only take reduced damage Ice emotional. Their lack of type resistances makes ice types difficult to play with, as they can’t switch into moves without taking a lot of damage.

What are the best ice type counters in Pokémon?

When fighting Ice-type Pokémon or encountering Ice-type moves, these types take less damage:

  • Fire – 1/2
  • water – 1/2
  • Ice – 1/2
  • stole – 1/2

This makes both Fire and Steel-type Pokémon the best counters for fighting Ice-type Pokémon. This is because these two types can deal super effective damage to Ice-type Pokémon and also take less damage from their STAB attacks. King Ambit, skeletonand Quaquaval are great counters against Ice-type Pokémon and have great stats to deal with even unresisted attacks.
