Alleged drug mule swallowed cocaine pills even though he’d passed them

The disgusting and potentially deadly efforts a foreign woman is said to have made to smuggle almost 1kg of cocaine into Australia have been exposed.
An Austrian woman was charged by Australian Federal Police on Sunday after she was allegedly arrested for hiding an illegal drug in her body.
Police claim the 27-year-old woman took 124 cocaine-filled pills before traveling to Perth.
She is said to have excreted and swallowed eight of the pills during her trip to Western Australia.
Australian Border Force officers stopped the woman when she arrived at Perth International Airport on February 11 and searched her bags.

They referred the 27-year-old to AFP when they suspected the woman was hiding illegal drugs.
She was escorted to Royal Perth Hospital where she reportedly passed 124 pellets over two days.
The Austrian national was released on February 13 after scans showed she was no longer hiding drugs in her body.
She was charged with importing a marketable quantity of cocaine – an offense carrying a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The 27-year-old remains in custody until she appears in court on March 10.
She was the third person charged in the past two months for allegedly importing internally concealed drugs.
An Irish man was charged in December last year after police claimed he imported 120g of cocaine into six Kinder Surprise capsules hidden in his body.
A few days later, a Portuguese man was arrested for allegedly hiding 1.6kg of cocaine internally during his flight to Sydney.
AFP Commander Kate Ferry said it was worrying to see a trend of three alleged internal imports in just eight weeks.
“Anyone attempting to transport drugs hidden in their body across borders not only risks a substantial prison sentence, but potentially a fatal drug overdose or permanent damage to their internal organs,” she said.
“The photos of the confiscated drug pellets, after they have been excreted, should also help drug users understand the disgusting reality of how these illicit substances are transported around the world.”
