Already stalled in the US, the global minimum tax hits the European roadblock

A global deal to introduce a minimum tax rate on corporate profits has stalled in both the US and European Union after Poland on Tuesday vetoed an EU deal to implement the measure by the end of 2023.

Agreed by 137 countries in 2021 to introduce a minimum tax of 15% on the profits of large companies, the deal paved the way for the most significant overhaul of international tax rules in a century.
