Amazon Prime Video will soon come with add-ons or a $2.99 monthly fee to get around them

SEATTLE (AP) — Amazon Prime Video will include advertising in shows and movies starting early next year, joining other streaming services that have added different subscription tiers.

Amazon Prime members in the U.S. can pay $2.99 a month to keep their service ad-free, the company said Friday.

Amazon said it will air limited advertising during shows and films starting early next year so that the company can “continue to invest in compelling content and continue to grow those investments over a long period of time.”

Ads in Prime Video content will launch in the US, UK, Germany and Canada in early 2024, followed later in the year by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia.
