Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has revealed what her daughter, 13-year-old Leah Shirley, thinks of her new memoir, So, Are You Crazy Too?
The MTV personality opened up during an interview with Ashley’s reality summaryShe said things have improved with her and her eldest child.
“We’re at a point now where it’s a fun relationship,” Portwood said Ashley’s reality summary. “We’re not what people think we are anymore. She needed her time. She had to understand my past and deal with it.”
“I think it took Leah a while to understand. She told me she could see the change [in me]. I thought it was nice of her to say that,” she continued. “What I did, I wanted to stay present and not stay away from her.”
Portwood said Leah didn’t read “So You’re Crazy Too?” (as far as she knows), but she’s aware of some things the Teen Mom OG star writes about, like her struggles with mental illness, trauma related to early death, and substance abuse.
“Leah knows a few things,” Portwood said The Ashley. “She knows what my mental illnesses are, and that’s a big step.”
The Indiana native accepted The Ashley that Leah is not judging her and not embarrassed by what her mother writes.
Portwood had 2 secret pregnancies
One of the things Portwood revealed in her new memoir was that she had two secret pregnancies. She had an abortion the first time and miscarried the second time.
“I was dating a heroin addict and accidentally got pregnant,” Portwood wrote per hollywood life.
“I ended up having an abortion, but it was devastating to me,” Portwood wrote loudly hollywood life. “I was on drugs and half the time I didn’t know what I was doing … had nightmares about abandoning my unborn child.”
The third pregnancy occurred after Portwood was released from prison.
“When I miscarried after getting pregnant by a boy I dated for a few months right out of jail, it shook me even though I wasn’t involved with anyone else at that point in my life to have a baby,” she wrote via hollywood life. Portwood recalled “I spent a long time trying to fish that thing out of my toilet.”
Portwood’s sister died as a baby
Portwood – who was 5 at the time – said she was traumatized by the death of her sister, who suffered from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). people have reported in 2019.
“It was tough,” she said of her sister’s death. People reported. “I remember how they brought her out on a stretcher. … It’s one of the worst things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
“It was so freaking awful to be honest. The last time I got out of jail, the first place I went was her grave,” Portwood said on an episode of Teen Mom: Family Reunion. “So much trauma, man, I can’t handle it.”
During a practice session on the show, Portwood revealed that her smile “vanished” when her sister died.
