American father reunites with missing child in Kabul evacuation

WASHINGTON — An American father who lost his 8-year-old son in the chaos at Kabul airport as his family was evacuating from Afghanistan has been reunited with his son after nearly 10 months apart.

The Wall Street Journal previously reported on efforts by the father, Mohammad, to locate his son and bring him home to California. The boy, known as James, lost his mother’s arm at Kabul airport when gunfire sent the crowd around him. The Wall Street Journal agreed to use only the first names for Mohammad and his family.
