Anne Heche reported in critical condition after car crash in LA
US actress Anne Heche is said to have been taken to hospital in critical condition after a collision left her car “in flames”.
The incident happened Friday morning in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles, near Ms. Heche’s home.
The actress, 53, is a former partner of US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, and is known for films like Donnie Brasco, Cedar Rapids and Psycho.
Photos and video obtained by US media outlet TMZ show Ms Heche driving a blue Mini Cooper, which was badly damaged at the scene.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the vehicle crashed into a two-story house and “went on fire.”
“It took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to reach, contain and completely extinguish the stubborn fire inside the severely damaged structure,” an LAFD report states.
“A female adult (was) found in the vehicle, who was taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in critical condition.”
LAFD also confirmed to the PA news agency that the vehicle drove 30ft into the residence but its occupants escaped uninjured.
Spokesman Brian Humphrey added that the building was “unhabitable”.
Heche began dating DeGeneres in 1997 but separated in 2000.
