Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition makes a surprise appearance on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S and Game Pass today, as announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023. The Xbox-exclusive title appeared during the show with a new trailer revealing that it’s the updated version of the 2021 strategy game from Relic Entertainment and World’s Edge. You can see the reveal for yourself in the Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition Reveal the official console launch trailer below.

Age of Empires IV was originally released in 2021 for PC. A year later, PC players received the Anniversary Edition update. Although this update brought a host of new features like new civilizations, maps, challenges and more, there was no sign of a console port at the time. Now the Xbox version is finally here and players can enjoy the complete strategy gameplay package. If you’re a console gamer interested in commanding your troops with classic controls, Xbox also supports mouse and keyboard input.

Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition is finally available on Xbox consoles today. Stay tuned for more Gamescom updates.
