Antonio blasts Tottenham players for slapping West Ham team-mates in the face

Michail Antonio has blasted Sergio Reguilon for punching Aaron Creswell in the face during West Ham’s 3-1 defeat by Tottenham on Sunday. as he told the Footballer’s Football Podcast.

The West Ham forward claimed two fans who ran onto the pitch to tie themselves to the post stopped the referee from making a call into the incident.

During a stoppage in play, Kurt Zouma kicked the ball towards Heung-Min Son, which theatrically went down – meanwhile fans ran onto the field.

Reguilon ran towards the West Ham defender to vent his anger before Creswell stepped in front of his team-mates.

At that point, Antonio shared that Reguilon continued to slap West Ham left-back in the face and he was “shocked” when nothing was done about it.

“Two fans ran onto the pitch and tried to tie themselves to the post,” Antonio said. “I feel like it happened at the right time. But honestly I feel like because that happened it stopped the referee from making an important decision for us by the way.

“I don’t know if people saw it. But one of our players got hit in the face. And no decision was made.

“Kurt (Zouma) kicked the ball out for them to take a corner and he hit Son in the calf with the ball. Reguilon angrily ran to Kurt. Cress (Cresswell) stepped in front of him to push him away and he slapped Cress in the face.

“So I went ‘there’s a decision to be made here’. I said to the referee: “Somebody got hit in the face. Please can you check it’. He went ‘don’t worry I’ll take care of it blah blah’. Then the fan kept running.

“There were four or five things he had to think about, so his mind was busy with a lot of stuff. Then it says “everything has been checked”. I was like ‘there’s no way it’s been checked’. – Cress had a red spot on his face. I was shocked.”

From a performance perspective, it was a day off for the West Ham United players.

Just days earlier, David Moyes’ side played 120 minutes against Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Spurs played in Wednesday’s 2-0 win at Brighton but they had that extra break that paid off in the end.

As a result, it has likely ended West Ham’s chances of securing Champions League football at the end of the season and boosted Tottenham’s even further.
