Arctic blast today and tomorrow, mild air returns on Sunday

Spring-like at times next week…

TODAY: Stormy & cold. Hello 25. Wind: NW 15-25 mph. Gusts to 40 mph.

TONIGHT: Stormy & cold. Lo 13. Winds: NW 10-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph.

SATURDAY: Cold and breezy. Hello 29. Winds: W 5-15 mph.

The arctic front smashed through Pennsylvania overnight and now the cold air is descending in Central PA. Some snow showers accompanied the passage of the front and the wind is also picking up. Cold air from the Arctic will continue to move south and invade our region today. Afternoon temperatures will only reach the mid-20s, with single-digit wind chills likely throughout the day. Tonight will continue to be blustery and cold with sub-zero temperatures and teenage lows.

The coldest time occurs on Saturday when we start near 10° and climb into the 20’s for the afternoon. The arctic air is short-lived and will start blowing out on Saturday evening. On Sunday afternoon we start to warm up significantly as we approach 50°. Most of next week will remain mild with most days near or above 50°. Our first full week of February could be the warmest we’ve experienced this winter so far. It’s almost like spring at times. Sorry Philip!
