A former “Bachelor” lead admits he made mistakes on the show and wants to offer advice to fellow Bachelors, including Zach Shallcross.

Arie Luyendyk made the comments on Us Weekly’s “Here for the right reasonsPodcast. The episode’s caption reads, “Former Bachelor Arie joins host Sarah Hearon to break down everything from living with Kate Chastain and Brandi Glanville to why he played Cirie’s game at the end of ‘The Traitors’ didn’t blow up. Find out what you didn’t see in those tense chat room scenes, and why Arie thinks he might have better advice for The Bachelor than his pal Sean Lowe.”

Of course, Luyendyk made one of the biggest mistakes in Bachelor history. He initially singled out Becca Kufrin before turning her down for his current wife and runner-up Lauren Burnham.

Luyendyk advised other bachelors that the “big thing” bachelors should remember is “this is your life and these are really big decisions.”

He called “The Bachelor” a “huge pressure cooker” and said, “I really sympathize with all the leads.”

According to Luyendyk, he thinks he could give fellow Bachelors better advice than Sean Lowe, who the show often turns to for such things.

“My advice, which I would probably give to any bachelors, might even be better than Sean’s advice because I’ve made mistakes along the way. And I can help someone not to make those mistakes,” he says on the podcast.

Luyendyk said the show now feels like a “dream” to him.

“I feel like the Bachelor franchise is a little bit behind us. It almost feels like a dream.” he told US Weekly.

“I find it kind of funny. I think the show has changed a lot. I think this season they’re trying to bring the romance back, so I hope that’s the case. But to me it feels like ages ago and every journey is different. Every path on The Bachelor could be different, so it’s really difficult to offer advice.”

Arie Luyendyk warned that The Bachelor’s production team doesn’t have the best interests of the bachelors at heart

On the podcast, Luyendyk said he’s “surprised when bachelors are chosen and then don’t reach out to previous bachelors.”

He said previous bachelors had reached out to him, noting: “I didn’t take Nick’s call [Viall]. I spoke to Sean [Lowe] because Sean is my boy, but other bachelors have been reaching out and I haven’t taken the time to actually pick up the phone. I should.”

He warned new Bachelor Zach Shallcross that “he should probably take any information he can get off production, right? Because the production has a great team trying to help The Bachelor, but really the best interest is the show. They really aren’t.”
