Army vs Navy preview

The Army was about to win a 31-16 victory over Liberty on November 27. The Black Knights did what they usually do: They ran the ball, and they ran it well, lifting 220 yards above the ground in victory. The defenders did their job, keeping Liberty 79 yards, but they were allowed to fly 305 yards, so the Army’s minors were very vulnerable if the Midshipmen wanted to sortie – though that’s not likely, since the Navy’s attack is just as fast-running as the military’s.

The annual head-to-head game has definitely been on players’ minds this week.

“Our boys might care less about bowling,” Army West Point coach Jeff Monken said of the game, via SB Nation. “They already knew. They all read it online. All had phones. They knew before yesterday’s team meeting. Really, it was just a matter of fact… They didn’t want to hear it. whatever it was. They were ready to go and ready for the Navy. There weren’t any big celebrations or jumping up and down or anything like that. There was a game all over the world. world right now and that’s the game this Saturday. That’s all our boys really care about. That’s all I really care about.”

On the other side, Navy also last played on November 27, beating Temple, 38-14. The Midshipmen gained 219 yards of charge, and their defense turned off the lights, allowing only a total of 182 yards while also forcing three turns. After winning just one of the first seven games of this season, Navy has won two of its last four and the team feels happy going into this one.

“We have been improving,” Midshipmen head coach Ken Niumatalolo said. “But like if you were a boxer, and you were fighting Floyd Mayweather, you would say, ‘I think I was better.’ But then you have six black eyes. But who else hit him? I think we played well against Notre Dame and Cincinnati, who lost a game between them.”

“We will be ready for those people. I just tell you that,” added Niumatalolo, speaking again for emphasis: “We will be ready for those people. ”

The Midshipmen still hold a 61-53-7 head-to-head record in the full-time series against Army, but the Black Knights won last year, 15-0.
