Arsenal and Tottenham found out this week that alleged target Darwin Nunez has a release clause in his €150m (£127m) Benfica contract.

took 90 minutes this week that the north London duo as well as Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all in talks to sign the 22-year-old attacker who has been in spectacular form for Benfica both domestically and in Europe this season and has been tagged as “Electric” by Micah Richards.

Nunez has scored an impressive 26 goals in 33 games for the Lisbon club and his form this season has attracted the attention of some of the Premier League’s biggest sides, namely Arsenal and Tottenham.

With Nunez enjoying a superb season and exports from the Portuguese Primera Liga usually impressive in the Premier League, the South American could be a brilliant signing for Arsenal or Tottenham this summer.

There’s no denying that Nunez has been outstanding this season. The young striker is one of the most successful in Europe and a player with the potential to become a superstar. But for Arsenal and Tottenham, the fee Benfica is asking is simply too high.

After all, this is only Nunez’s second season in Portugal, while the 22-year-old is attracting plenty of attention should Arsenal and Tottenham look for safer talent to lead their front line if they plan to spend big on a centre-forward this summer.
