Arsenal and West Ham United are also said to be in the running for Brentford striker Ivan Toney alongside Newcastle United.

That’s according to 90minwho claim Toney is generating a lot of interest ahead of the summer window.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that Newcastle are turning their attention to Toney.

The Magpies abandon Darwin Nunez’s engagement and are now attempting to bring Toney back to St James’ Park.

Unfortunately, if Newcastle thought it would be easy to re-sign Toney – a player they sold in 2018 – they are wrong.

It is now suspected that Arsenal and West Ham United are also interested in signing Toney.

Add interest from Everton and Wolves and it looks like Brentford are set to face offers for Toney this summer.

However, the report notes that Toney is actually happy at Brentford and wants a new contract to reflect his importance.

The 26-year-old will reportedly cost more than £50million to leave Brentford – and that’s before signing a new contract.

Toney has recorded 12 goals and four assists in 28 Premier League games this season and has shone in the Premier League.

It’s no surprise Toney’s performances are attracting interest, but it’s hard to imagine Arsenal or West Ham paying £50m for him.

Arsenal are desperate for two forwards this summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract this summer.

Toney gave Ben White a torrid night earlier this season, but the likes of Jonathan David and Alexander Isak seem more likely to come.

As for West Ham, Michail Antonio needs support at the top and the club’s Europa League run needs to appeal to potential signings.

However, £50m would be a huge expense for West Ham and they are targeting the next Toney from the EFL rather than Toney himself.

Barring contract negotiations, we would envision Toney being a Brentford player next season.
