PSG have reportedly won the race to sign Italy international Gianluca Scamacca, with French giants Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham battling for the striker’s signature.

According to Le ParisienThe Ligue 1 champions have agreed with Sassuolo a €50m (£43m) fee for the attacker, with the 23-year-old arriving in Paris next week to sign for PSG, with Scamacca becoming the club’s first signing is said to be coach Christophe Galtier, who will replace Mauricio Pochettino this week.

The move is part of a new transfer policy from PSG led by Galtier and new sporting director Luis Campos, with the French side now looking to sign young players to build Kylian Mbappe rather than superstar names, with Scamacca being the first signing.

The forward enjoyed a breakthrough in Serie A last season when Scamacca established himself as Italy’s new starting number. 9 and attracted a great deal of interest in the Premier League, namely Arsenal, although Newcastle and West Ham later joined the race when it became clear the Gunners were signing Gabriel Jesus.

described An ‘incredible’ striker with great potential from the press in Italy, Scamacca could become one of Europe’s best attackers if he develops well at PSG under Galtier, with the striker set to play alongside Mbappe next season when Neymar leaves Paris.

Indeed, Arsenal and West Ham should be upset that they missed out on signing Scamacca, but given Sassuolo’s demands for their star striker, it makes sense why the Premier League duo and Newcastle were hesitant to sign so much for to pay the 23 -year old.
