Arsenal said not to waste money on a £72,000-a-week England striker

Darren Bent said further talkSPORT (4:30 p.m., May 20, 2022) that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal shouldn’t spend £60m on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes Arsenal could find a better striker than Calvert-Lewin for £60m.

The talkSPORT pundit has added that the Everton striker would be an expensive signing for the Gunners even at £40m.

Arsenal pushed to avoid Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Bent continued talkSPORT (4:30 p.m., May 20, 2022): “Not at £60m. No chance. Under no circumstance.”

Asked if he would have signed Calvert-Lewin for £60m 18 months ago, Bent said: “Maybe, but even £60m is a lot.”

The pundit was then asked if he would take the £40million striker.

Bent replied, “Yes, but I think there are better things out there.”

What are the Gunners supposed to do?

We think £60m is a lot of money for Dominic Calvert-Lewin but now that Everton are set to stay in the Premier League Arsenal may have to pay that sum if they want to sign him in the summer transfer window.

If the Gunners don’t end up in the Champions League, they probably won’t attract top-class forwards.

Calvert-Lewin isn’t an ‘elite’ forward but the £72,000-a-week (SalarySport) The Englishman is certainly a very good player who has now recovered from his injury problems.

That Everton No9 has scored five goals in 14 Premier League starts this season, and scored 16 goals in the 2020-21 league and 13 league goals in 2019-20.
