Arsenal loan star Matteo Guendouzi has spoken about his immense pride after scoring his first goal for France senior team this international break.

Talking to the press via GFFNThe 22-year-old midfielder was impressed by what he had just done for Les Bleus as Guendouzi scored France’s last goal in their 5-0 win over South Africa, while Kylian Mbappe and former Arsenal star Olivier Giroud were also on the ball archway stood.

Guendouzi joined Olympique Marseille last summer on loan which is set to become permanent at the end of this season, with Arsenal ready to leave the France international for a relatively cheap fee.

Guendouzi, thriving in Ligue 1, had an unforgettable season with Marseille and now France, with the midfielder overjoyed to score his first goal for the reigning world champions on what was a historic night for the youngster.

When asked about his first-ever goal for France, Guendouzi said: “It fills me with great pride, my first goal with the French team, moments like these are what you dream of. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, that’s for sure.

The midfielder added: “I’m really happy, I hope to score a lot more goals. I’m proud because it rewards me for the work I’ve put in for a long time. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life, that first goal with the French team, that’s for sure.”

Arsenal letting Guendouzi go on the cheap has been a contentious issue among fans and given the midfielder’s form for Marseille and France, there’s a good chance the youngster could join Qatar if he continues at that level of performance.

Indeed, Arsenal will curse themselves at such a decision. Finally, Guendouzi is ideal for what Mikel Arteta wants in a midfielder this summer and for the club, letting one go and becoming a top-five player of international caliber will be a slap in the teeth for the Gunners to develop.
