Arsenal’s predicted XI vs Southampton

Arsenal’s season suddenly threatens to spiral out of control.

The Gunners were in an incredibly strong position just two weeks ago and it looked like they were on the verge of securing their first top-four finish since the Arsene Wenger era.

In typical fashion, however, the Gunners’ form has gone out the window amid an injury crisis and another loss this weekend would all but wipe out their chances of a top-four finish.

Unfortunately the Gunners’ injury crisis has not abated and with that in mind we have tried to predict the London club’s starting XI for this game.

Arsene Wenger’s last 7 Arsenal signings: where are they now?

With Arsenal side plagued by injuries, we believe Mikel Arteta will only make one change here despite losses to Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Nuno Tavares returns to this side despite a dismal performance against Palace two weeks ago, while there is a small reshuffle in the rest of the XI.

Granit Xhaka moves back into midfield from left-back, Martin Odegaard returns to his preferred number 10 position, while Gabriel Martinelli starts centrally after Alexandre Lacazette missed training this week due to personal reasons.

A win here would go a long way in getting the Gunners’ season back on track, but another defeat could be the final nail in Arsenal’s top four coffin.
