Mikel Arteta is said to have been ‘angry’ at Ben White and Cedric during Arsenal’s defeat at Southampton last afternoon.

Arsenal missed a chance to draw level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after losing 1-0 at St Mary’s.

Spurs had lost to Brighton by the same result on Saturday, meaning the Gunners missed a glorious chance to rekindle their bid to qualify for the Champions League.

Arteta’s side certainly had their chances but the north Londoners weren’t good enough for the most part – and Cedric and White in particular.

The two Arsenal defenders weren’t as adventurous as they could have been with their passing.

There are massive issues beyond passing Cedric and White and once Arteta has figured out the main issue Arsenal can get their top four bid back on track faster.
