What is an edit button on Twitter?

Twitter first released an editing option last year when the social media giant said the feature would be tested in Twitter Blue Labs.

The option allows users to edit their tweets after posting, which is currently not possible.

The announcement comes a day after Elon Musk bought a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter.

And before that the billionaire shared a poll by asking his followers in a tweet if they want an edit button.

Twitter confirms new feature

Twitter Comms confirmed in a series of tweets on Tuesday that an editing feature is in the works.

“Now that everyone is asking… yes we’ve been working on an editing feature for the last year! No, we didn’t get the idea from a survey. We’ll begin testing within the @TwitterBlue Labs over the coming months to learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.”

Twitter’s head of consumer product, Jay Sullivan, further confirmed that the feature would be tested in the “coming months.”

However, Twitter hasn’t revealed whether the feature will be available to all users or only on Twitter Blue, a paid service.

Users are not very interested in trying

Most Twitter users think that they don’t need the editing feature as one cannot be held accountable for their words when the option allows users to completely change their original posts, which is pretty scary in the virtual world.

A tweeted: “Who needs the edit button when you can just delete all your tweets ten minutes after posting”

Other added: “I’m telling you, if they add an edit button, it’s going to be a disaster.”

“Ugh no Elon, we don’t want an edit button. We want platforms to be held more accountable when it comes to preventing fake news from spreading,” said one tweeted.

Other wrote: “No edit button required. Everyone will change tweets..” As a new feature is in the works, what is the edit button on Twitter?
