Aston Villa meet Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday in what is the closest thing to a derby these days.
With Birmingham City and West Brom scrapping in the Championship, the Premier League’s West Midlands bragging rights are up for grabs in the event.
Both Villa and Wolves are enjoying relatively decent seasons. Villa have looked electrified since the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, while Wolves have been one of the most defensive teams in the division so this should be an interesting clash of styles.
With that in mind, we tried to predict Villa’s starting XI for this game.
It’s not the fanciest or most controversial team you’ll ever see predicted, but we think Gerrard will make just one change from the team that lost to Arsenal.
Lucas Digne comes on for Ashley Young and otherwise it’s the same team that lost to the Gunners.
To be honest, this team is almost self-selecting these days. Villa had a very even starting XI under Gerrard and we expect he will trust this group of players again to get a result.
The only headaches Gerrard has with selection may be Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, but we expect Watkins to get the nod over the former Southampton man this time around.
